Jenny's solo career and AOB's future..., Split & merged from other topics

I don't think I'm being hypocritical.

Have I been hypocritical before? Of course, everybody does it.

But now? I don't think so, not at all. Jenny's book is one thing. If she wants to spread the word of the Lord out like that and tell her story - good for her, best of luck. But it's when she starts talking about her solo album, her solo single, her solo music video, her solo coverart...that it pisses me off.

What I don't understand is why did this solo thing come up all of the sudden? If this was some big dream she's always had - then what was the last 2 years about? Why did she tell us, alongside Ulf and Jonas, that she was going to release an ACE OF BASE album all of this time...?

Did she know that she wasn't going to? Is the 4th member thing just an excuse? I don't know. But as a fan it just pisses me off that she's wasting this EXTREMELY BIG CHANCE for Ace Of Base to make it big again so she can live her "dream".

If her dream was so important to her, why not just be upfront about it? Instead of just springing it on us the second things start to get stressful in AOB?

I'm not going to shut up. You know what will shut me up? Some goold ol' Christian honesty from Jenny. I want to know what happened. Why is the band on hold (or over)? What the hell is going on?!

When I know that - THEN I'll be more inclined to support any kind of solo career. I will not accept the whole "let's be quiet and pretend the last 2 years didn't happen" brainwashing experience.

Don't look back, just recently a member appear and wants to share with us (what's wrong with that?).
Why you can't be happy with this contest because the others (AoB) lie? iT IS THEIR PROBLEM. I work a lot for the REMIX-CONSTEST but it wasn't enough talent to make aob back, Now I don't want lost a new oportunity, a posible album of one of the members.

Patrick: Well, I give her credit for being honest. But it's still a bit odd. To ask people to do something, but tell them you don't plan to use what they submit.

It's odd to me.

I'm fine with her doing solo stuff and a book. I will find both interesting.

Not as interesting as AOB stuff, but interesting nonetheless.

HOWEVER... that being said.

Certainly SuperMikey has a point.

Doesn't anyone find it the least bit offensive that the band had all this hoopla with announcements about how they were (once again!) going to try to be more communicative, and had all these grand plans.

Remix albums featuring remixed songs by DJs/producers from each continent, new album, YouTube, MySpace, new website, etc...

Then they change things, but don't officially tell us. We piece it together by translating bits of interviews and digging up what we can find to find out a hint of what's going on.

Then the website disappears, and no word from them.

Then in the middle of all of this Jenny announces a solo career and book.

You all mean to tell me that no one other than SuperMikey finds that to be a bit rude or impolite? I don't think it's the best manners, and they certainly had a credibility issue with all of us before - (they say one thing and then do another and never offer us an explanation).

So, while I'll be happy to see what Jenny has to offer, I am nonetheless myself more than a little irked by all that's transpired and the band members once again wiping their hands clean and not taking any ownership to follow through with what they've said. Forget whether a new album is coming out (and whatever reasons might impact that from happening).

Certainly, they at least owe us some explanations or updates after all the promises to keep us informed this time.

Instead we get a new Jenny solo project, and then SHE TOO blows off the subject of AOB and says that's not what she wants to talk about now.

Well, OK, but realize you've damaged your credibility by doing that. So now as a result I put less credibility in Jenny too.

There's only 3 of them who made the promises to us, and there are only 3 of them who really know what's going on. So it's not like we can say "well, it's not Jenny's responsibility to follow through on their pledge to us, it's someone elses."

There is no someone else here. It's Jenny, Jonas, and Ulf.

Need we go dig up their YouTube video messages and what not and reconstruct the things they said in various capacities about what they would be doing and what they had in store.

Then it all goes quiet and we get NO explanation.

Not very professional of Jonas, Ulf OR Jenny for that matter.

Any individual here who's very upset and frustrated, has a right to be.

You are, in my opinion. You shouldn't begrudge others and you shouldn't make smartass comments about the single cover contest when you, yourself, did stuff for the book cover contest. It's the same situation, so it's hypocritical of you to act this way now but in another with the first contest. Plus, you shouldn't put words in Jenny's mouth. Besides, she had, what, 10 submissions for the book cover contest? Do you honestly think she believes she'll get a whole bunch more, that this would make her see all the "interested" people?

I don't think it has. I have Jenny solo files on my computer from one to four years ago. Jenny's done a lot of performances on her own without Ace of Base. She's wanted this for a long time, I'm sure.

I can't say what's going on with the current Ace of Base problem. I have no idea. Of course I want a new album like they promised. Of course I want to know why it hasn't happened, yet. Of course, I want answers from the band. Of course I'm upset, and I'm not saying that you shouldn't be upset. But I'm not going to act like a baby because Jenny's a Christian or because she's releasing a solo CD. You don't have to go to every thread and make it into a "Jenny attack."

P.S. I'm not trying to be mean. You know I don't dislike you. But you're being a goober!

@ Supermikey: you really made a cover for her book? So lets' start making a cover for her CD. Maybe she also wants some inspiration for a new Ace of Base CD.

Jenny's been working on her solo album much before Night of The Proms, this is a project she has for a long time now so it's time to think about it!

People blame her for the AOB situation but why her? why is it up to her to make sacrifices? You make it seems like she doesn't want the album to come out when we all know that it's more complicated than that!

One thing is being frustrated for not getting the new album another one is blaming someone like she was the only responsable for the situation! and whinning all the time like a spoiled little child is just ridiculous!

Anyway, this issue is being discussed evrywhere in the forum so we should stop and go back to topic, we were supposed to talk about the contest!

i had a dream this night. it said that AOB will go on. jenny and jonas are still in the band, ulf is out and new singer is in!

Patrick: Well, I think it's somewhat understandable for people to be upset with her.

Here are my two reasons:

1. There are only 3 members of AOB and she's the lead (only) singer. So obviously her opinion matters greatly to AOB's future.

2. Claes keeps telling us that Jenny is really the steering direction behind AOB. That she has always been the one engaged in their future and what the consequences of their actions would be.

Again, I am OK with her doing solo work. It is clear to me too that this is something she's wanted to do. That's all fine and well with me (in terms of her book and her solo album).

But she is also a key representative of AOB (the only one being public and vocal now). So I also think its understandable that many of us would look to her to offer explanations.

It's a bit cheesy and wrong for her to do the "oh, don't ask me about AOB."

Really?

OK, then who do we ask?

The label they don't have? The manager they don't have?

If we don't expect answers from the members who made declarations to us in the past (that they've obviously changed) then WHO are we supposed to ask to get an understanding of what's going on??
